Iker Casillas's Timeline
The Spanish National team won the World Cup title. The tournament took place in South Africa from 11 June to 11 July 2010. Iker played a very important role thoughout the tournament. “I was sure Spain would at least reach the final” stated Iker after winning the title. “I was sure that we were going to win. It was our moment, there was no other. We made a great team, filled with talent and good spirit.” During the tournament Iker made several key saves, like for example throughout the quarter-final match against Paraguay and in the 62nd and 83rd minutes of the final match against Holland. Andres Iniesta scored a dream goal in extra-time and gave Spain the win in the Would Cup at the Soccer City stadium.
In 2010 Iker was awarded with the FIFA World Cup Golden Glove. The individual honour cemented his reputation as the best goalkeeper of the world.
